Margaret Maxine Hastings died Monday, June 18, 2018, at Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living in Monument, Colorado. She was 92.
Maxine was born October 16, 1925, in Morris County, Kansas, daughter of Edwin Earl Williams and Mabel A. (Maloney) Williams. She graduated from Council Grove High School with the class of 1943. Maxine was married to Elvin Hastings, December 16, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a member of Council Grove United Methodist Church and White City Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She devoted her life to caring for her family. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Hastings; two sons, Ron Hastings and Brent Hastings; her parents, Earl and Mabel Williams; two brothers, Bill Williams and Lyle Williams; and five sisters, Corgie Mae Kahle, Marjorie Meyer, Muriel Falter, Virginia Linn and Erma Jean Wildhaber.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Debbi Holdeman and husband, Mark, Monument, Colorado; three grandchildren, Jennifer Dammeier and husband, Jeremy, Franklin, Indiana; Christine Newton and husband, Chad, Saratoga Springs, New York; and Joseph Holdeman, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Dammeier and Corin Dammeier, Franklin, Indiana.
Maxine will lie-in-state from 10:00 – 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Zeiner Funeral Home.
Family and friends will gather from 5:30 – 7:30 PM, Thursday evening, June 28th, at Council Grove/Dunlap United Methodist Church, 21 North Mission Street, Council Grove, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 29th, also to be held at the church, with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery in Council Grove.
