Kimberly Karen Swanson, the daughter of John Michael Kiely and Karen (Watring) Wagor, was born September 10, 1958 at Fairfield, California, and passed away on March 9, 2018 at the Belleville Health Care Center at the age of 59 years, 5 months, and 29 days.
Kim moved to Scandia, KS in 1975, graduating from Scandia High School in 1976. She then attended Cloud County Community College for one year.
Kim worked at M.C.’s and the Belleville Greenhouse in Belleville, KS. She later worked at the Clothesline in Scandia for five years. Kim also was a Paraprofessional at Pike Valley High School and also worked at the Kaffe Haus.
She later worked at Arbuthnot Drug Company in Belleville, KS for 16 years as a Pharmacy Tech and clerk.
On June 1, 1979, she was united in marriage to Lonny Swanson and to this union was born: Renee and Shelby. The couple made their home in Scandia.
Kim was a member of the United Methodist Church, Scandia, KS; the Scandia Library Board and Community Club, as well as a board member for Kansas Junior Miss.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Harold “Harry” Swanson.
Kim is survived by her husband, Lonny Swanson of Scandia, KS; one son, Shelby Lee Swanson of Lincoln, NE; one daughter, Renee Lynn (Justin) Saunders of Asheboro, NC; father, John “Mike” (Brenda) Kiely of Clinton, MO, and mother, Karen (Jaris) Wagor of Milford, KS; one brother, James Kiely of Wellsville, KS; three step brothers, Jamie Kiely of Clinton, MO, David Wagor of Phoenix, AZ, and Steve Wagor of Grand Lake, CO; two step-sisters, Kathy Melby of Scandia, KS and Kelly Weinberger of Knob Noster, MO; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, Scandia, KS with Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock, officiating.
Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery, Scandia, KS
Friends may call at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Scandia, KS from 1PM until 8 PM on Wednesday where the family will greet friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Scandia United Methodist Church.
