EMPORIA – Anthony (Tony) Charles Bowen, 61, of Emporia, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Newman Memorial Medical Center in Emporia. He was born on May 16th, 1956, in Heidelberg, Germany, the son of Charles and Darlene (Baumann) Bowen.
A Rosary will be said at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, March 14th, 2018 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Council Grove with Father Theodore Khin, officiating. A time to express condolences to the family will follow after the Rosary. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at the group shelter at Richey Cove at the Council Grove Reservoir on Thursday, March 15th at 1:00pm. Please bring seating if desired. Burial will take place at a later date.
Tony was a devoted father, grandfather, son and brother. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, gardening and being outdoors. He worked over 20 years as a parcel delivery driver and a skilled carpenter. He also enjoyed farming.
He was married to Jan Thiessen on July 8, 1978. From this union three sons were born, Nathan, Cole and Tanner.
He is survived by his sons, Nathan, Cole, and Tanner of Emporia; grandchildren, Benjamin, Jaxson, Brayden, and Hayley; his father, Charles Bowen; brother, Marc and wife Becky; sister, Paula Ross; brother, Kenny; sister, Laurie Kohler and husband Wayne; sister, Dawn Wecker; brother, Chris; sister, Jennifer Steere-Offermann and husband Roger; sister, Kathy Morris; aunts and uncles, Joann Bowen, Kathi Olson, and Dick Ragan; nieces and nephews, Wade and Jessica (Bowen) Olsen, Dustin Bowen; Johnny Ross, Matt and Chanell Ross; Lucas Kohler, Logan Kohler; Kenley and Lindsey Hickman, Chelsey and Justin Schmidt, Mitchell Wecker; Jon and Shelby (Bowen) Stohs, Kyle Bowen, and Josh and Emilee (Bowen) Hager; Erinn Steere, Evan Steere, Micah Offermann, Jacob Offermann, Adam Offermann; and Joseph Morris; great nieces and nephews, Leyton, Greyson, Brooklynn, Aubree, Keaton, Marlee, Kayden, Jace, Blair, Easton, Bennett, and Ava; and several beloved cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Darlene (Baumann) Bowen; and an infant sister, Tamara Bowen.
