Wayne was born January 25, 1935, at Waterville, to Nina S. (Lacy) and George H. Whitesell, Sr. He married Donna M. Nemechek on December 22, 1956, at Manhattan. He worked for GP Gypsum for thirty-eight years.
Wayne attended the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working his farm and raising cattle, as well as fishing, hunting, camping, country music, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed traveling and had visited all of the lower 48 states.
Survivors include his wife Donna, two sons; Wayne “Doug” Whitesell and wife Suzanne of Blue Rapids, Dave Whitesell and wife Jana of Waterville, a daughter, Betty Jo Bolejack and husband Marvin of Beatrice, Nebraska, a sister, Helen Warnica of Abilene, by six grandchildren and thirteen00 great-grandchildren.
Preceding in death were his parents, three brothers; George Whitesell, Jr., Robert Whitesell and Melvin Whitesell, two sisters; Marie Davis and Jean Fairchild, and by a great-grandson, Wesley.
Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Friday, with visitation between 6:30 and 8:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville.
Funeral services are at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 9, 2017, at United Methodist Church in Blue Rapids with Pastor Debby Dick officiating. Music is to include duets of “In The Garden” and “Amazing Grace” sung by Jim and Kim Oatney. The musician is Althea Wertz. Casket Bearers are Brian Whitesell, Joe Whitesell, Dustin Warders, Mardell Maxwell, Logan Betka and Quint Bolejack. Burial is at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids.
