Four Wichita women were arrested Sunday afternoon for allegedly shoplifting $1,500 in clothing from the Salina Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 2450 South Ninth.
Salina Police Capt. Paul Forrester said that an employee confronted the women at the door- they ditched two shopping carts full of merchandise but took a duffle bag full of miscellaneous clothing items.
The employee saw the women get into a passenger car a flee. An attempt to locate was put out on the 2010 Mercury Milan just before 2:57 p.m. Capt. Forrester said that the employee was also able to provide a plate number for the suspect vehicle.
Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said that a deputy located the suspect vehicle heading south on Interstate-135 near milepost 77 at around 3:40 p.m. that day. During the traffic stop, the deputy located stolen merchandise and determined that the driver had a suspended license.
Capt. Forrester said that the women also had around $950 worth of stolen clothing from JC Penney, 2259 South Ninth.
Keandre Brown, 24, Brittany Trussell, 20, Eresha Carter, 24, Tyuisha Thomas, 24, were all arrested felony theft and possession of stolen property. Brown, the driver, is also facing a driving while suspended charge.
Sheriff Soldan said that Trussell initially provided false information and is facing an additional obstruction charge.
