On Monday, August 29th at 6:30 p.m., community members are invited to celebrate the completion of Oakdale’s 2014 Bond work. Oakdale Elementary School’s completion will be commemorated with a dedication plaque, ribbon cutting and a Marathon Kick-Off Family Night.
Two new kindergarten classrooms, a multi-purpose storm shelter, controlled entry and more will be open. The evening offers everyone an opportunity to see Oakdale’s improvements accomplished through the 2014 school bond issue.
The school’s new art element is a collaborative mural titled, “This Tree is Me.” The silhouette of the tree in the mural was taken directly from the oldest oak tree on Oakdale’s grounds. The tree is a symbol of the school, standing strong and branching out. The limbs represent teachers and staff while the leaves represent the students. It was created by artists Amanda Stirn, Debbie Wagner and students at Oakdale.
In addition, students and their family members will have a chance to walk the Oakdale track with the laps being counted toward the total number of miles walked for the school marathon.
The brief, plaque dedication ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. with tours and the Marathon Kick-Off following. Everyone is welcome and the event is free. Please visit USD305.com for more information about the 2014 Bond.
