Salina (2-9) has lost six straight games and will attempt to snap that losing streak in their season finale against the Bloomington Edge (5-5).
This will be the second meeting between the two teams. Just two weeks ago, the two teams met in Bloomington, with the Edge rolling to a 61-29 victory. The Liberty opened that game with a disastrous first quarter in which they were plagued with turnovers and outscored 23-0.
Salina came back and cut the Edge lead to 4 points going into the 4th Quarter, but that’s as close as they would get. Salina was outscored 28-0 in the final period, which was more than enough for Bloomington to get the win.
The Liberty tried to bounce back at Omaha last week, but came up short in their effort, 35-18. Salina had just 161 yards of total offense against the Beef and never had a lead in the game.
The Liberty will enter this week’s game with yet another new face on the roster. The team signed running back Travis Ribbing on Monday. Ribbing, who played college football at Central Missouri University and Missouri State University, has three years of experience in indoor football. He previously played for the Lincoln Haymakers and the Omaha Beef.
Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. Saturday night at the Bicentennial Center. All the action can be heard on the official station for Salina Liberty football, KINA 910 AM & 94.5 FM, online on The Salina Post and also on the TuneIn Application, which is available for all Android and iOS mobile devices by simply searching ‘KINA’. Pregame begins at 6:30 p.m.
This week’s game is the Armed Forces Appreciation Game sponsored by the United States Air Force which will honor those that have served in the armed forces. All active and retired Armed Forces will receive a free ticket with a military I.D. Any first responders attending the game will also receive a free ticket.
