A semi hauling vehicles to Central America is destroyed by fire early Saturday evening on I-135 in McPherson County.
Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Craig Davis said the driver was southbound on the interstate about 5:30pm when he saw sparks coming from his dashboard. He pulled over and tried to put out a fire with his extinguisher, but was not able to do so. He then called for help.
The fire destroyed the semi, and the vehicles on the trailer that were bound for Guatemala.
The fire did close the interstate to southbound traffic for a few hours. Traffic was moved over to old 81 highway for about a 10 mile detour. No one was injured in the fire.
Footage of the fire can be seen below.
