Will was born in Laurel, Mississippi on May 31, 1964, to the late Hilda K. (Barber) and William Henry Gavin.
He was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Salina, where he also served on the Steward’s board.
He was the husband of Patrice (White) Gavin. She survives him.
Other survivors include; daughters Maseka Gavin, of Bay Spring, Mississippi, and Jasmine (Chester) Dove, of Stringer, Mississippi; brothers, Samuel (Sarah) Barber, of Memphis Tennessee, Willie Earl Gavin, of Bay Spring, Mississippi, and Gregory Gavin, of Gulfport, Mississippi; and sister, Tessa Gavin, of Gulfport, Mississippi; as well as many grandkids and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and step mother, Velma Jean Gavin.
A funeral service will be held at at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3rd, with Rev. Viola W. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, August 2, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with family greeting friends from 6-7.

Carl Ralph Sears, 70, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in Salina. He was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Salina, to Ralph C. and Carol M. (Lishen) Sears.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy (Harris) Sears; parents; and infant son, Kevin Sears.
Survivors include: sons, Kurtis Sears, of Tescott, and Kerry Sears, of Salina; stepdaughters, Lori Buhler, of Wells, and Venita Harris, of Russell; brothers, Robert Sears, of Napa, Calif., and Ken Sears, of Salina; sisters, Jeannie Sears, of Salina, Barb Haley, of Delphos, and Pat Sears, of Salina, and their spouses; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. By his request, there will be no services. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is in charge of arrangements.
Larry graduated from Salina High School in 1960. He worked at Burr’s Body Shop in the 1960s, then joined the United States Marine Corps in 1962. He served in the Vietnam War with the 2nd Battalion 7th Marines and was critically wounded in the battle of Harvest Moon on Dec. 18, 1965. He recovered and retired from the Marine Corps in 1967. He was married to his wife, Barbara Greer, for 46 years. Larry worked at Graves Truck Line and later became a teamster and drove a tractor-trailer for UPS, where he retired in 2008.
Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara C. Greer; daughter, Tonya R. Greer; sons, Larry R. Greer II, Garrett J. Greer IV, Eric J. Greer, Joshua A. Greer and “Lil” Eric J. Greer; his mother, Bernita M. Greer; sister, Sheryl Anderson; granddaughter, Natasha Daily; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Garrett J. Greer III; daughter, Laura L. Greer; and grandson, Ryan J. Sonneberger.
Larry touched so many hearts of those around him. His compassion for others reflected his kindness and sincere love and respect for others. Larry was a loving son, devoted husband and wonderful father. He made others feel good about themselves and always did little things to make you smile. Virgil Bowman (uncle) is dad’s lifelong hero (World War II veteran).
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 611 Willis Ave., Salina. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Phillip Vaughn Abell, 82, of Catoosa, OK, passed away, Thursday, July 25, 2013. He was born January 22, 1931, in Tescott, Kansas, the son of Ramon and Beurnice (Van Doren) Abell.
Phil was a truck driver for over 60 years and an avid sports fan- especially football and dirt track racing.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, son, Phillip Abell Jr., daughter, Darlene Anderson, and grandson, Jason Anderson. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Howard, Garry, Larry, Sonny, and sisters Margaret and Helen.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Abell and wife Angela, of Salina; daughter, Annissa DeJarnett of Catoosa, OK; daughter Carrie Meili and husband Gary, of Lincoln, KS; Daryl Kriegh, of Lincoln, KS; son, Bruce Kriegh of Salina; daughter Jacki Person, and husband Dennis, of Minneapolis, KS; and son-in-law, Steven Anderson of Westfall, KS; as well as one brother, Bob Abell of Barnard, KS and wife, Mary Jo; sister-in-law Peggy Thomason and husband Jay of Dickson, TN and brother-in-law, Vincent Pistora of Salina, KS, along with countless nieces, nephews and cousins and “adopted” family members.
Phil was Papaw to 18 grandchildren: Billie, Travis, Matthew, Brent, Kyle, Abria, Jennifer, Joshua, Jacob, Jackson, Avery, Abigail, Scott, Seth , Maddy, Julie, Scott and Shawn; and 18 great-grandchildren: Caden, Candice, Alexis, Kyla, Isaac, Isabella, Jude, Daniel, Elijah, Bridgette, Zanissa, Andrew, Caleb, Courtney, Grace, Emma, Joseph, Anthony and a baby boy expected in November.
A memorial service will at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina. Memorial contributions may be given to Salina Central Mustang Football, and left in care of the mortuary.
