Sunflower Bank Warns Customers of Scam

July 26, 2013 by Salina Staff Leave a Comment

sunflowerbanklogoCustomers have reported receiving a piece of mail addressed from Sunflower Bank stating that their account is past due. The letter is requesting the customer to write a check to a PO Box address to bring their account up to date.

Please remember that Sunflower Bank mail pieces will always contain the Sunflower Bank logo and an address of one of our locations and phone number(s). Our corporate office address is PO Box 800, Salina, KS, 67402 and our phone number is 888-827-5564.

Please contact us immediately if you have received mail similar to this and provided sensitive personal information.

Tips to Avoid Being Scammed:

-Never give out your sensitive personal information or respond to mail requests if you are not sure of the legitimacy. Please contact your local branch or call us at 888-827-5564 as soon as possible.

-If you receive a call asking for sensitive personal information, do not provide it. Instead, hang up and call the phone number located on your bank statement, in the phone book or located on their website to find out if the entity that supposedly called was legitimate in their request.

-Remember, as a best practice to protect our customers, Sunflower Bank never requests sensitive customer information, such as personal identification numbers, passwords, debit or credit card numbers over the phone, in email or by text.
