One teen was killed and four others were injured in a crash involving a deer on I-70, on the east end of the Walker Bridge, in Ellis County, at around 10:30 Friday night.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Christopher Johnson was driving eastbound on I-70 when he swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle hit the deer anyway and drove off the shoulder, over corrected and rolled. The vehicle landed on its top hitting a fence.

Johnson and three passengers, 15-year-old Rebecca Harmison of Garden City, 17-year-old Wyatt Marsteller of Dighton, and Ieasha Gray of Dighton, were transported to Hays Medical Center with injuries.  Their conditions were not immediately known.

A fourth teen, 16-year-old Hope James of Dighton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
