You have my vote already, Mr. Allen!

  • Change!!

    Awesome! Can’t wait to vote…….

Is this the man who wrote the book about his sons suicide/murder? He believes his son was murdered and the police departments messed it all up?? What qualifications does a person have to have to be sheriff?? Curious, I really don’t know?

    • Anonymous

read the book before you run your mouth!

    • Momoftwo

then ask. find out.. he is known in this town

  • :)

    BART ALLEN FOR PRESIDENT!

  • About time

Kochanowski needs to be replaced and so does Hill!

  • Average JoAnn

Mr. Allen is running on a vendetta! The Sheriff’s Dept. investigation didn’t have the murder outcome that he wanted to have in his son’s case. I sure understand that a suicide would be hard to take, but how does this make him qualified to be Sheriff. I hope Mr. Allen gets some counseling rather than a position of public authority.

  • Really?!?

Mr. Allen is only trying to improve Salina. It really doesnt matter if you believe his son died of suicide or murder. It was handled very badly! There is nothing wrong with taking a tragedy and turning it into something good. Ever hear of John Walsch?

  • http://salinapost.com The Dude Abides

Nice post. I agree…& this county needs a change. Law enforcement around here is a flat out joke. I will vote for Mr. Allen as well.

  • Bart Allen

Candidates only need a GED to run for Sheriff. Actually, I’m incredibly overqualified. The reasons for the GED rather that cop experience is because they thought cops in charge of cops was a bad idea. They were right.

  • Mr. Bill

Although you’ll be running as a republican this time around, Mr. Allen, you will certainly have my vote :)

  • Amazed

He told me that he wants to be Sheriff so he can use the resources for his own personal vendetta. You really want that as your Sheriff? He will be using your tax dollars for his own personal issues! SERIOUSLY????

  • Voting

where do I get a sign for my front yard?

  • FearUrGovernment

Personal vandetta or making changes where they are needed? It’s a shame and changes need made when a law abiding citizen like myself fears the “system” in this town. As long as they accomplish the same goal, I don’t care about the motivation and you shouldn’t either.

  • wow

OK so he changed from being a Democrat to Republican??????????? Does he think he’s gonna get more votes that way? To run a law enforcement agency I think you should have some type of law enforcement experience or at least a criminal justice degree. Mr. Allen thinks he’s been wronged and that’s the only reason he wants to run our Sheriffs Office…kinda scary to me. And yes I’ve read the book and it seems Mr. Allen doesn’t think to highly of a lot of people including a lot of his own family members.

  • OhBaby

    Have my Vote Sheriff Allen!!!

  • Momoftwo

I think it is time for a change in this town. For someone to want to run against Kochanowski means the people have a chance for that change. If you truly want change then vote for change.. If you like the same old thing with the same old way of doing things then by all means vote for Kochanowski. Either way just make sure to vote!

  • Chixrule

I think it is admirable to run for sheriff, or any type of public office, as long as you are doing it for the right reasons. I am fairly certain that this man is NOT. He has a vendetta against local law enforcement and I would be scared of the implications that could pose for our town…if I thought he stood a prayer of being elected.
Most people don’t have any idea of how difficult it really is to be a police officer…it means long hours, disrespect from a large percentage of the people you are trying to help/keep safe, an unimaginable amount of stress/pressure on both you and your family, and living under the constant threat that you might not be coming home at the end of your shift. Is Mr. Allen prepared to sign up for this? Does he really appreciate the efforts of our local law enforcement? Or is he just out to “get” someone for his son’s death? I can’t imagine the loss of a child…but blaming someone else won’t take away his pain.

  • Really?!

Momoftwo is right Vote or don’t complain.

  • brooke

@chixrule, excellent point. he has a vendetta. It’s a shame. maybe someone with no agenda and some qualifications should run. Mr. Allen just wrote a rant against chief Hill to the Salina journal. Don’t run because of an agenda. So anyone with a g.e.d can run. That does’nt mean they should. Maybe he should apply as a police officer first, get some experience then run later.

  • haha

To all those that oppose Mr Allen you have the right to vote against him. Now I believe change is needed in this town. The change is getting people to be more open minded and not the thinking that stinks up this public forum. If Mr Allen has his personal reasons for wanting change then so be it. I’m sure after observing law enforcement in this community he has good reason. It can’t get any worse!

  • Bart Allen

Who on earth would run for an office without an agenda? Mine is to address the issue of corrupt LEOs. I’m just trying to be useful, unlike those that hide their criticisms behind silly names. Speaking of agendas, what type of Americans protect corrupt cops, like WOW does at every opportunity? Talk about scary agendas.

    • Grannie

By the tone of your comment, you have just proven the fact that you are running for office on the vendetta ticket. I have known and worked with Glen for over 20 years. He is by far one of the most honest men I have ever met. Before you and the voters start preaching “change” you better all STOP and look at the facts and the candidates!! America voted for change with O’Bama and look where we are NOW!!!!

      • LibertyOrDeath

I’m voting for the vendetta ticket!

      • Bart Allen

If Glen is one of the most honest men you know, you need to find new friends. He’s incompetent and corrupt – it’s documented, though I doubt that makes any difference to those that would rather keep their heads in the sand. Do us all a favor and go back to your hole.

  • Ummmm

I can honestly say that I am going to vote for Bart Allen! There is an awful lot that goes on behind those closed doors at the Saline County Sheriff’s Office. I have seen alot of good men and women that were deputies and jailers leave due to the way that dept is ran. Kochanowski likes to play the racist card quite a bit.

  • Hunter

A change maybe, Bart Allen, no. A personal agenda should not control a desire to run for office. If you want to serve great – not to get even.

  • lawabiding

Agenda or not when it comes to corruption in LEOs as you say, there is a protocol for it to be investigated its not only the Sheriff’s responsibility. There is as in any Law Enforcement Agency on the city, county, state or federal level. The Sheriff as well as any leader in law enforcement can’t be in all places at all times. If Mr.Allen has an agenda to protect and to serve as any LEO should then so be it. But if he is just going in to just clean up corrupt officers and that alone we don’t need him in office. If he can clean up something wrong and has a desire to protect and to serve this county then so be it. best wishes on your campaign!

  • Hmmmm

I, too, used to work for the SO and left because of the corruption and sexual favors being traded for preferential treatment which was known by lots of employees. This stuff has been going on for years and needs to be stopped. I also know there are a lot of good guys on the force and would like to see things whipped into shape for their sake. I am currently reading Allen’s book and will make up my mind when I finish and verify some of the information presented. In the meantime, I still feel the good-old-boys club needs to be broken up.

  • P

Honestly, I believe a change-up in our Sheriff’s Dept and Police Dept are very welcome! I know I can’t wait to vote!!

  • CentralKansasPatriot

Mr. Allen, We The Citizens need to know if you will ever obey orders to detain citizens for political reasons, i.e. NDAA, or if you will act as the highest law enforcement officer in your county to protect the citizens against a potential rogue and corrupt government.
Please check out http://oathkeepers.org/oath/2009/03/03/declaration-of-orders-we-will-not-obey/ and let us know your intentions.
    1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.
    2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people.
    3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.
    4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.
    5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.
    6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.
    7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.
    8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control.”
    9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.
10.We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of
    grievances.

    • Andy

      Thank you, CentralKansasPatriot!

    • Bart Allen

I do not support the NDAA. I consider myself to already be in a war with the “powers that be”, and have been for several years now. My position on the NDAA certainly won’t surprise anyone that knows me or the Allen family. We have ancestors that fought in the Revolution and my great grandfather, a Kansas lawman, was murdered by trail scum in his own kitchen. I take my role as an American very, very seriously.

  • anon

Kansas Patriot, its good to know somebody else in Kansas has a clue what is going on in the big scheme of things. I think most of these people around here just walk around on cloud nine!

  • Questions

Kid shot dead in daylight at a park…..15 years.
4 teens beat a man to death and they get cut deals.
    Can you fix that Bart?

  • About time

Kochanowski had nothing to do with the deciding factor on the deals that they got. You can thank our lovely judicial system for those deals.

    • LibertyOrDeath

We need new Judges as well. District and Municipal.

  • Kim Ryan

Bart Allen, I have a passion for politics, if I can help you with your campaign please post a website.

    • Bart Allen

I’ll be getting a website up before long. Thanks for volunteering. I had 2 marines fresh back from war that volunteered today. They said helping me increase awareness of the values of true Americans was certainly easier than getting blown to hell in their last job defending our values. Thanks again!

  • salina transplant

I have lived in Salina for 10 year, I am interested in what changes Mr. Allen plans to make. I do see on this post the daily arrest made, for people that deserve to be arrested. I have only once had to call the Salina police department, not the county sheriff, for a prowler at my house. They were very prompt in their response and professional as well. I have also been to the sheriffs office once in regards to registering an out of state car purchase, it was five minutes before closing, they stayed and helped me with all the paperwork. I do not know of the inner working and corruptness the sheriff’s department is accused of. My opinion is those complaining more than likely grace the arrest blotters, or are in fear of being there.
I am interested in what changes Mr. Allen is brining to the table. I am in the process of reading his book. So far many mistakes were made by both the family and law enforcement. The biggest being no autopsy, I can certainly understand a grieving family not making good decisions, but law enforcement to not have an autopsy for an unattended death?
If the death occurred as Mr. Allen states in his book and the pictures show the story told, I believe that he is correct in that his son did not commit suicide. I would be interested to know if he is willing to release the independent investigation he paid for? I think this would give more credibility to his belief of it being investigated improperly. But does that one investigation lead to cleaning house of the current sheriff?
What I want in my local law enforcement is for them to up hold the laws, arrest those who break the law and to keep our community safe. I have seen a good effort of this occurring now. The recent arrest of Eric Srack and the others making drugs is a good example as well as the numerous driving under the influence arrest. We do not need or want this type in our community.
I am sure the above drug comment will bring out the legalize drug supporters, that is not my point I wish to make.
The point I wish to make is, I hope to gain further information on Mr. Allen’s plans and also the current sheriff’s plans for the future as well. My hope is that when the votes are cast, they are made by informed voters.

  • Dale

Lets give Bart a chance what have we got to lose besides a washed up sheriff. Its time for the good ol boys to go Hill is next.
