Hello and happy Wednesday everybody, it’s Tyler Henry, back with another KINA Sports Update presented by Salina Regional Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.

Last night, the cross-town rivalry between Salina South and Salina Central took place on both the diamonds, and it was a HUGE four-game sweep for the Cougars and Lady Cougars, who picked up wins of 9-6 and 7-0 on the softball diamond, and 11-4 and 17-1 on the baseball diamond.

All four games were streamed with live audio and video on Salina Post, and are now available for playback on-demand

Big news also broke out of Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday when it was announced that head mens VB coach Dustin Sahlmann was named as GPAC Coach-of-the-Year headlining KWU's 2024 list of All-GPAC selections

In just his second season, Sahlmann led the Coyotes to new program heights, finishing with their first winning season, their first home playoff game, and their first trip to the conferences final four.

And finally Following a successful 12-year NFL career that included four Pro Bowl appearances, All-Pro honors and a Super Bowl 50 title, Kansas Jayhawk Chris Harris Jr. announced his retirement from professional football on Tuesday.

An undrafted free agent out of Kansas, Harris signed with the Denver Broncos in 2011 and spent his first nine seasons with the Broncos, which included four Pro Bowl appearances and the Super Bowl 50 title. Harris was named first-team All-Pro in 2016 and is a member of the 2010s NFL All-Decade team.
