Kansas man barricaded himself, others inside home during standoff

LYON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a weekend standoff at a Kansas home. 

just before 11p.m. April 27, police responded to a a report of shots fired at a home in the 700 Block of State Street, according to Emporia Police Captain Lisa Hayes.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect later identified as 39-year-old Tyler Seifert of Topeka barricaded himself and multiple people inside.

The Emporia Police Department’s Special Response Team was utilized to execute a search warrant and one person was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. That person was transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Health.

Police arrested the alleged shooter identified as Seifert and transported him to the Lyon County Detention Center. He has been charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and criminal discharge of a firearm, according to online jail records.
